Private house that you have a great view of Mt. Arashimadake

Yesterday, I went to photograph the private house Ryohaku-sanso in Ono City, and I myself wanted to stay there. Above all, the magnificent appearance of the Mt.Arashimadake from the room is great (photo above).

The Mt.Arashimadake is one of the 100 most famous mountains in Japan. When I climbed it, I sometimes met a large group of people who came from a distance.

For the moment, I am sure that there are few climbers because of the new coronavirus, but I think that it's the best accommodation for those who come all the way.

It is a nicely renovated private house with all necessary amenities for life. According to a reservation site, it says it's available up to 10 people but I thought that even 20 people could stay.

Because I live in Fukui City, I can return in a day from the Mt. Arashimadake and I don't have to stay for a night. But even so, the quiet environment and the view is very attractive. I want to stay there just because of these.

Autumn mountain

I was fascinated by the view of mountains that were overlapped like waves.

I went to Mt. Hakuba-dake in Nagano Prefecture last weekend. I was planning to go to the Mt. Hakuba-dake from Tsugaike Kogen highlands via Hakuba-Oike pond, but I stayed in a tent overnight by the Hakuba-Oike pond at an altitude of 2,379 meters and turned back without going further.  Because the weather was not so good. The summit of the Mt. Hakuba was almost in the clouds. During the round trips to the Hakuba-Oike pond, it occasionally rained lightly and had fog, but thanks to that, I saw several grouses and enjoyed the scenery with a slightly different color from that when it was sunny.

Memories of Mt. Sanjusangen in Fukui Prefecture

When I was tidying up the drawers in my room the other day, I found a journal of the mountaineering club of the company where I used to work in my younger days. I was asked to join the club eagerly and joined it without much consideration, even though I had never climbed a mountain and had no prior knowledge. Now I think that it was because there were very few women in the workplace, so they needed female members for cooking etc.

After work, I ran on the company ground. And then, I climbed the Mt. Sanjusangen ( 842 meters high) located in Wakasa Town, Fukui Prefecture, which was my first mountain climbing. Although I don't remember very much, I remember that the large panorama overlooking the sea and the refresh feeling when I arrived at grass fields in front of the top of the mountain. According to the journal, lunch of the day was Mabo-tofu (Chinese style tofu food), rice, fruits and lemon juice.

By the way, a co-worker who was in a college mountaineering club wrote in the journal as the ultimate in enlightenment of mountains as follows.

"Springwater in mountains, if you drink it, you will get exhausted, if not, it will be the hell, you drink it and exhausting is the way of mountaineering." (H.S)

Most of them were from other prefectures and now they returned home.
The mountain climbers were full of energy and gentle. I wonder if they are doing well.

A lot of Katakuri flowers were in bloom on the top of Mt. Kyogatake

The Katakuri (Dogtooth violet) flowers that grow on the top of Mt.Kyogatake.

On May 11th (2019), I found a lot of Katakuri flowers blooming on the top of Mt. Kyogatake (1,625 meters) in Ono City, Fukui Prefecture. Although I didn’t aim for the time of bloom,  it seems that it was just the right time.

Many other flowers were also blooming along the mountain trail, but it's too bad that  many of them were unknown to me.  So I would like to know more about animals and plants in mountains.

Iwanashi flowers that I found on the mountain trail. Their berries taste like pears.

Iwauchiwa flowers were blooming quite a lot. They are similar to Iwakagami ones but the shape of leaves is different.

Wonderful views from Mt. Iwagomori in Tsuruga City, Fukui Prefecture

Last Saturday, a friend of mine asked me to go hiking in Mt. Iwagomori in Tsuruga City. We made the "Daguchi Trail" round trip from the drive-in Shinohara along National Route 161.
As with Mt. Aobayama, which I visited last time, the mountains in Reinan area of Fukui Prefecture seem to have a great view and bright. I think it's because there are no very high mountains around them.
The height of Mt. Iwagomori is not so high, 765.2 meters, but I was able to enjoy the wonderful view of Tsuruga Bay below. And I was also able to see Lake Biwa and Mt. Ibuki to the south and even Mt. Hakusan to the north.
